Ombudsman Commission of Papua New Guinea

The Ombudsman Commission was established at Independence in 1975 to investigate complaints of unjust treatment or mismanagement by government officials, and charges that leaders have violated the Leadership Code which was introduced to combat corruption. Under the PNG Constitution, the Chief Ombudsman and the two Deputy Ombudsmen who comprise the Commission are Constitutional Officers which means that they are independent and free from government control.
