Archbold Expeditions

Sponsored and partly financed by mammalogist Richard Archbold, and organized by the American Museum of Natural History, these natural history expeditions engaged in biological research in Papua and New Guinea between 1933 and 1964. The six expeditions, the first three of which were led by Archbold himself, have added significantly to knowledge of the flora and fauna of the country.
